CESPE Vacancy: Operational Manager

Join CESPE as our Operational Manager!

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of pharmaceutical engineering and manufacturing? The Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Pharmaceutical Engineering & Manufacturing (CESPE) at Ghent University is seeking an Operational Manager to drive our ambitious goals forward.

Your Mission

CESPE, a collaboration between 19 research groups at Ghent University Association and industrial partners, aims to lead the way in sustainable pharmaceutical manufacturing innovations. As our Operational Manager, you will work closely with the CESPE Director, General Manager, Project Manager, and Business Developers to support our objectives and diverse range of activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team to develop a future-proof operational strategy for the CESPE Innovation Accelerator.
  • Translate research activities and expectations into technical specifications for the design and construction of the Innovation Accelerator.
  • Proactively develop a training program that meets the needs of our industrial partners.
  • Contribute to the expansion of the project portfolio in collaboration with researchers and partner companies.
  • Facilitate interactions with industrial partners and maintain continuity in partnerships.
  • Enhance CESPE’s visibility through representation at international conferences, event organization, and communication campaigns.

Your Profile

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in (bio-)engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, veterinary medicine, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge and interest in scientific domains within CESPE.
  • Proficient in project management, with excellent organizational skills and a focus on timely execution within budget.
  • Experience or knowledge of technical requirements in a high-tech pharmaceutical production environment is advantageous.
  • Passionate about building a world-class expertise center in sustainable pharmaceutical production.
  • Familiarity with the workings of universities and industrial actors such as pharmaceutical companies (relevant network preferred).
  • Experience in developing public-private project proposals is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch, both verbal and written.
  • A team player who can work independently and efficiently in a complex organization with a “get things done” attitude.
